Anita Yearwood, Special Events Manager, is responsible for planning the ICA’s fundraising events and opening celebrations. Prior to joining the ICA, Yearwood was the events and corporate relations coordinator for the Virginia Municipal League (VML) where she managed special events, lead corporate engagement strategy, and provided meeting and association management services for the Southern Municipal Conference, a collaboration of municipal leagues from thirteen southern states. Yearwood has also served as an event specialist for the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia, events and commencement coordinator for the University of Richmond, and an event planner for Virginia Commonwealth University.

She has earned the top credentials in the meeting, convention, exhibition, and event industry, as a Certified Meeting Professional and Certified Government Meeting Professional. In 2015, Yearwood was recognized as a “40 under 40” honoree by Connect Magazine. Yearwood participates in industry conferences, forums and advocacy efforts to advance the events profession and industry. She can be found speaking and giving presentations on various event planning topics.

She serves on the board of the Central Virginia chapter of the American Society for Public Administration and is a member of the Old Dominion Chapter of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals and the Virginia chapter of Meeting Professionals International.

Yearwood holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications (2006) and a master’s degree in public administration (2014) In addition, she earned a graduate certificate in nonprofit management from VCU and a certificate in meeting and event planning from the University of Virginia.
