Lara Belfield is the Data Entry Assistant at the Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU. She is responsible for maintaining the integrity of membership data and supporting the development of the membership program at the ICA.
Belfield graduated with Bachelors of Arts degrees in Art History and Historic Preservation from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She then moved abroad to attend Kingston University London in Kingston-Upon-Thames, England, where she received a Master of Arts degree in Heritage (Contemporary Practice). While studying in England, she held positions at the New Ashgate Gallery and Craft Shop in Farnham, as well as the London Film Museum in the city’s Covent Garden neighborhood.
After she moved to Richmond, Belfield briefly worked in the financial services industry before returning to her true passion of working in the arts and museum sector. In addition to her work at the ICA, she holds positions at the Valentine as a Visitor Services Associate and at Maymont as a museum interpreter. She has loved learning about so many different aspects of the city’s history through her positions at these various cultural institutions, and is looking forward to increasing community engagement with the city’s contemporary arts culture through development of the ICA’s membership program.
