Michelle D. Hawkins is the Financial Services and Human Resources Coordinator for the Institute for Contemporary Art. Hawkins brings more than 20 years of administrative business coordination in finance, human resources, and event planning. She has been employed at VCU since 2002. Prior experiences include administrative support to various regulatory programs at the Virginia Department of Social Services, Department of Criminal Justice Services, and the Charitable Gaming Commission.

She is certified by the Society of Government Meeting Professionals as a Certified Government Meeting Professional and as a Virginia Contracting Associate by the Virginia Institute of Procurement. She is an active member of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals, having served on the board as First Vice-President chairing the Education Committee, and as Planner Director chairing the Membership Committee. During her tenure as Education Chairperson, Hawkins created several award-winning chapter education programs and was awarded Chapter Planner of the year in 2011. She is a Notary Public for the Commonwealth of Virginia and recently completed the 45th Henrico County Citizens Police Academy

Hawkins has earned an Associate’s degree in Marketing from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (1989), Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in advocacy for minorities (2008) from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Masters of Counseling (May 2016) from Liberty University.
